'The Canterbury Militia—His Excellency the Governor has, by an order in Council, constituted a Militia District in this province, to be called by the name of Chmtehurcly the boundaries of which district is the circumference of a circle, the radius of which extends fifteen miles from the Land Office. The corps to be called a battalion. The battalion by the present order is to consist simply of volunteers; and the same Gazette contains the regulations to be in force with reference to the corps. . The same Gazette contains the appointment of Henry Arthur Scott, Esq., to he Captain of the Volunteer Corps of Canterbury Rifles.— Standard^ July 2 V
