ENGLISH SHIPPING.

The Traveller, "from" Auckland, arrived at Cow.es on the 19th March. • , The clipper Whirlwind sailed from Gravesend on Ist April, with a full and valuable cargo for Auckland. Amongst the passengers is the new Commis-sioner-General, Henry Hurtlett, Esq., who goes out to join the headquarters of the 65th Regiment, at Auckland. The Whirlwind also carries 190 steerage and intermediate, passengers. . ... ........ The Eaglet, for -Wellington and New Plymouth, sailed 24th March, with the largest quantity of goods ever shipped.to^ Wellington in a singte bottom. She ' will he followed by the Countess of Fife on the 20 th April. The' Eaglet, from London for Wellington, N.Z., put into Queenstown, 4th April, with loss offoretopmast and majntopgallantmast.' ' ■ The. P. and O. Co.'s steamship Northam is a new boat, built expressly for the Australian mail service. On her present trip from Suez she has proved herself not only a good sea boat; but a..very, fast one, she having'only occupied the following time between the different ports she has touched at:— . ;.
