Nelson, 18th April. 1U44: —— — - - ALTERATION OF ROADS IN WAIMEA SOUTH AND WAIMEA WEST. _____ „.___,„ T Tn . m TA -, T ' T^HEREAS an APPLICATION was * ' duly made by me, the undersigned, Thomas John Thompson, of Eichmond, in the Province of Nelson, Surveyor, under and by virtue of the provisions of the "Alteration of Roads Ordinance, 18.54," to two Justices of the Peace having jurisdiction in the said Province, sitting at the Court House, at Richmond aforesaid, on the 31st day of January now List past— To stop up a certain road in Waimea South, in the said Province, commencing on the south side of a cross-road running from the Wai-iti river to the hills, at- about 10 chains west of J. Ciirran's corner, and proceeding 103 chains in a south south-west .direction through Sections 142 to 150 inclusive, thence 37 chains in a south-west direction through sections 151, 152, and 153, and terminating ar the Wai-iti river; .And-to substitute in place thereof a certain other road, -60 links wide, commencing at the said cross-road at the-termination of the trunk-road .already formed-at John Curran's corner, and proceeding 34 chains in a south-west direction through Sections T42,143, and 144, to the watercourse (being a portion-of the road at present _in use); thence 14| chains in a south direction through 144 and 145; thence 110 chains in a south south-west direction through sections 14fi rSK!Sal_S^^todrf_ Crown to the Wai-iti; arid thence 12 chains in a west-north.-vvest direction through 157, and there t , terminating at the present trunk-road, And whereas_an application was also duly made by me, the undersigned, at the same time and place to the same two Justices of the Peace, undei and by virtue of the said Ordinance— To *»«,. a certain rorfta Waimea Wcstin to Z^SSr/Ts^^Lt^^m chains in a north-north-east direction through Section 56 to its northern boundary, and. there terminating; And to substitute in place thereof a certain other road, 75 links wide, commencing at the same point as the road proposed to be stopped up. proceeding ■ c 11 chains in a north-easterly direction through the said section, till it meets a certain other road -. passing along the east boundary of the said section on the bank of the Waimea river, and there terminating. 4 n(* w^-ereas ie several plans were deposited and noti<*s given by me, as required by the said Grdinance : " And whereas, upon the hearing of the aforesaid applications, the same were disallowed by the said Justices, in consequence of one-sixth of the owners, and - occupiers having leases of not less than three years to 'run, of the land adjoining each of the said roads pix>posed t0 be stopped up, haying objected .thereto :-,,,: '- Nd\v, therefore, I, the said Thomas John Thompson, hereby give notice, that, in accordance with and by virtue of the provisions of the aforesaid Ordinance,! l intend to apply to the Provincial Council of the said , Province at its present sitting, to pass an Act or Ordinance to authorise such old roads to be stopped up, and such new roads to be made, as aforesaid. , ' Dated this thirteenth day of April, 1859. __^ T.
