TWO SERMONS will be PREACHED *- on behalf of the above Society in the Nelsoii School-room, Bridge-street, on EASTER bUNDAY, April 24: in the Morning at Eleven, and Afternoon GENERAL MEETING will be held on the following evening MONDAY, Aprill 20. Chair to be taken at Half-past Six o'clock. Tea at Five. Tickets, 2s. each. 1042 ALTERATION OF ROADS IN WAIMEA SOUTH AND WAIMEA WEST. TO"HERBAS an APPLICATION was *» duly made by me, the undersigned, Thomas John Thompson, of Richmond, in the Province, ot Nelson, Surveyor, under and by virtue of the provisions of the "Alteration of Roads Ordmance,_lßo4, to two Justices of the Peace having jurisdiction m the said Province, sitting at the Court House, at Richmond aforesaid, on the 31st day of January now List past— To stop up a certain.road in Wainiea South, in the said Province, commencing on the south side ot a cross-road running from the AVai-iti river to the hills, at about 10 chains west of J. Curran's corner, and proceeding 103 chains in a south south-west direction through Sections 142 to 150 inclusive, thence 37 chains in a south-west direction through i sections 151, 152, and 153, and terminating at 1 the Wai-iti river; . And to substitute in place, thereof a certain other road, 60 links wide, commencing at the eaid cross-road at the termination of the trunk-road already formed at John Curran's corner, and proceeding 34 chains in a south-west direction through Sections 14-,', i 43, .md 144, to the watercourse (being a portion of the road at present_ m use); thence L 4£ chains in a south direction through 144 and 145; thence 110 chains in a south south-west direction through sections ]4n to 153 inclusive. 155 and 156 ; thence 9 chains in a south-west direction through waste land oUae Crown to the Wai-iti; and thence 12 chains in a west-north-west direction through 157, ana there terminating at the present trunk-road. And whereas an application was also duly made by me, the undesigned, at the same time and p ace, to the same two Justices of the Peace, under and by virtue of the said Ordinance — . To stop up a certain road in Waimea \\ est, m the said Province, commencing ±h chains from the south boundary of Section 56, and proceeding Hi* chains in a north-north-east, direction through Section 56 to its northern boundary, and there terminating; And to substitute in place thereof a certain other road, 75 links wide, commencing at the same point as the road proposed to be stopped up proceeding 11 chains in a north-easterly direction through -the said section, till it meets a certain other road passing along the east boundary of the said section on the bank of the Waimea river, and there terminating. And whereas the several plans were deposited and notices given by -me, as required by the said Ordinance : And whereas, upon the hearing of the aforesaid applications, the same wore disallowed by the said Jiw. tices, in consequence of one-sixth of the owners, and occupiers having leases of not less than three years to run, of the land adjoining each of the said roads proposed to be stopped up, having objected thereto : Now, therefore, I, the said Thomas John Thompson, hereby give notice, that, in accordance with and by virtue of the provisions of the aforesaid Ordinance,! intend to apply to the Provincial Council of the said Province at its present sitting, to pass an Act or Ordinance to authorise such old roads to be stopped up, and such new roads to be made, as aforesaid.
