Mil. Hamilton's Concert.—The second concert of this gentleman's came off last evening, in which one 'or two of the most successful songs of (he previous concert were repealed, but in other respects Hie songs were chosen from an apparently inexhaustible varying stock. Some of the- best were " Man the Life Boat," "The Desert," "lhe Gambler's Wife," and among the lighter portion, the Coraican Brothers' burlesque song was worthy of remark. The banjo, and wooden harmonium concluded the evening's entertainment successfully.

' Drowning tiv thb w airoa kiveh. —An inquest "was held on Monday last at Hope, on the body of Thomas Harrison Lines, son of Mr. Thomas Lines, : of that place, who was accidentally drowned while bathing in part 6t the Wa'iroa River, on Saturday last,' the 12th instant. - It appeared that deceased \va's' unable to swim, and had jumped into apart of the river where be was Ijeyond his depth. On his giving an alarm, and appearing to be in want of assistance, one of his companions, named Hop- ' good, went towards him and succeeded in bringing him to the surface, but encumbered with;his wei"ht, was unable to reach the land ; he however persevered in his efforts, until he had himself sunk several times; he at last reached the shore, by the help of others then come, to the spot.' The body was brought ashore about twenty minutes after the first alarm', but all efforts to recover animation failed. ■ The courageous conduct of . Hopgood elicited the marked commendation of the juryi who returned a verdict of "Accidental Drowning." Nine Ounce Nugget.—By the Rapid, on Wednesday last, a splendid nugget, weighing 8 ozs. - 19 dwts. 18 grs., being only six grains short of ' nine ounces, was received from Mr. 1). Allen, of Massacre Bay. It was brought by Mr. Peter Christiscn, originally a baker in Wellington, who has been on the diggings about two years, and until lately, has not been very successful. He and his party, we are told, are now doing very well, and milking up for lost time.
