Cricket.—We, are informed that the return match between Motueka and Nelson will come off on this day week (Friday), when the Motuekans will in turn become the guests of Nelson. The match will come off on the same ground as hitherto, in Toi-ioi Valley, and we hope to find as numerous a body Of; persons to interest themselves in the game ana welcome our visitors, as was the case: when we visited them. ■■■- '' '' ■■ r:-:: .'■ '^ ; :; Flax Dressing-.—Mr. Nattrass Las just shewn us a sample of flax which, as the produce of a single leaf; appears to be a large quantity. In this clay's paper he calls the attention of persons desirous of advancing the matter to his method of operation, and is, we believe, willing to treat with parties who will assist in bringing his process into practise on an extended scale.

The Yacht Match.—The last match which was so closely contested that it was difficult to decide upon the winner, has been declaredly the sailing committee of the regatta to be' " no race," and therefore about a week hence will be sailed over again, upon the owners of the vessels consenting to do so. All three will be eligible, and we should like to see the Ocean Sprite, in another rig, shew some game. It is stated that many bets that were laid upon the previous race will be deferred for this event.

The Regatta Ball.—On Tuesday evening the above ball took place at the Freemasons' Hall. There were about 50 persons present, and the tasteful decorations and arrangement throughout were additions to a very pleasurable meeting. An excellent and ample repast was provided by Mr. Clark in the refreshment saloon at the back of the Hall, the convenience of which added much to the comfort of the party. They- broke up about 4 o'clock'on Wednesday morning, much gratified with the night's amusenient.
