Determined Suicide. — John Wvight, residing at Moturoa, committed suicide by cutting his throat on Thursday evening at about 8 o'clock; The deceased was formerly a whaler, and one of the earliest residents in Cook's Strait. He was a quiet inoffensive man, and much i:&r. spected by his neighbors.,, It appears.that-he was subject to fits of melancholy, and in one of these put an end to his existence.— Taranahi Herald, January 1.

Coroner's Inquest.?—An inquest was belt! at Pataweke, Motuvoa, on 31st ultimo, before the Coroner, Dr. Sealey, and a jury of residents in the Grey and Omata districts, on the body of John Wright, whose tragical death was recorded in ourtlast issue. -After examining the corpse, which presented an awful appearance, the head being literally all but severed from the body, the jury received the evidence of those persons in whoße company the deceased was immediately prior to the commission of the fatal deed, and were unanimously of opinion that he destroyed himself during a fit of temporary derangement, and returned a verdict to that effect. The body was interred on Sunday, 2nd instant, in the Waitapu burial ground, the funeral service being performed by the Rev. John Whiteley. -Herald, January 8.
