TT IS PROPOSED that the Aorere (Col- - '-*- lingwood) correspondents of the Nelson Journals shall meet a party of Anatoki men in friendly rivalry at certain SCOTCH or ENGLISH GAMES, such as throwing the hammer, putting the stone, wrestling, jumping, running, &c, and any other feats of strength or dexterity that may be suggested. The meeting to take place on FRIDAY, the 31st instant, at Mr. Spittal's, T A KARA, at 10 a.m. The agreement to be—that the Aorere correspondents are to bring enough Slate River gold to pay for their own beverages, and the men of Takaka will find enough Anatoki gold to pay for the edibles of their guests and themselves. 507 Y^OALS.—To Steamboat Companies and others that can make use of it—TO BE LET, SOLD, or arranged form some shape or form, a COALMINE, situated on the banks of the Motupipi River. A. small vessel can come alongside the coals,- and by some expense in deepening the river, a large vessel can. Rise and fall on the bar at spring tides, 16 feet; neep tides, 8 feet: or the coals may be boated, or a tr«m or railroad run 5 miles to the Tata, where vessels of any draught can go and come at all times and tides, and lay in safety. The Produce of the Takaka VHlley would be shipped also, and it would be, and pay for the making of, one of the most important districts in New Zealand. The top seam of coal lays from. 6 to 12 feet below the level of lii-_'h water murk, and is roofed over with solid rock, so that miners can drive without fear.; no props or ■ roof wanted. Bvit there is wanted enginemen, tools, &c, and money to pay the men with. It is one of the most convenient mines in the South Seas, and probably the best, but that cannot be told until' it is wrought and used. NB.—None need apply but who can and will work it, so as to benefit people here thrown out of employment through a bad and overcharging system of mining and selling coals.
