Commercial.

The Sydney Herald of November 20, says — Sugar continues in brisk demand, and prices are fully sustained. The several arrivals from Mauritius, at Melbourne, during the last few days, may influence ■shipments, if prices give way there. We learn by telegram from Melbourne that, at the date of the last ■advices, several vessels were loading for the colonies ■at Manila. The Company are firm at previous quotations. iAt Tennant's sale of the cargo of Bugar there ■was no bid.

Notwithstanding the numerous telegrams which liave been sent to and from Melbourne since the arrival of the mail, we hear of very few transactions as the result, although the prospects of several articles must be materially affected by the advices received. The shipments of teas are more likely to influence the market upwards than otherwise, and holders are much firmer since the advices arrived at Melbourne. We •fully expect to see fine congou up to £9 9s. and £101 Os. "per* chest, as the trade are nearly all out of counter •teas, whilst inferior is scarcely saleable. One or two iparcels of fine congous have come to hand this week from the'other colonies, which are now placed at prices varying from £8 15s. to £9 ss. per chest; but the quality of the teas was very superior to any we ■have in this market for some time.

Shipments of candles are reported heavy. Butter.—Since the receipt of the mail at Mel'boume, with advices of short shipments, prices have rallied there 2d. per lb., and holders here now decline •offering until after flic delivery of the mail. Wheat and Flour.—No alteration has talcen place 'this week, the market being steady <at £20 for fine, and £18 for second quality flour. Bran 2s. per bushel. Wheat 7s. to 7s. 6d.

Bread.—'Cash over tlie counterSd. to s£d., delivered ■Sid. to'6d. per 21b. loaf.

,owing to a press of Advertisements, we are compelled to leave over much local and other matter.
