Napier.—The Customs revenue for the month now about ended exceeds £500—equal to over £6000 per annum. A considerable portion of the October receipts (£190) is for sugars ex Salcombe Castle, which may be called an extraordinary item, but there can be no doubt that were the district fairly treated in regard to its customs' revenue, the receipts would always exceed the sum for this month, and gradually increase. We shall be glad to learn something further of the proposal for direct communication with Sydney, which would prove a certain cure for the present imtoward state of things.— Hawte's Bay Herald.-
