LAND SALES.
The sales of sections advertised took place at ;the Land Office on Saturday last. The quarter acre allotments in the Waitohi that were sold, went at' upset prices. They '\Ver_.-{Nosi 364, 365, and 369, each at £26 ;' .bought hy[W. Bbwler, Esq. XOfy ;the.'. suburban lauds, No. 42, in the ;Montere Valley, bought by James Drummond for Aipset pripe, 50 acres, £18 15s. vxThe" Collingwood suburban lots were chiefly contested* for by Mr. Bowler and Mr. Hackitr, the first gentleman buying Nos.*79, 80, 81, 82, and 83 at upset price -, but No. 86 was knocked' down to him'after smarfc bidding at £27. ■ Nos. 87, 88, 89, 90, 91 were bought by the same gentleman, varying from two to three times the upset price. Mr. Hackitt similarly bought Nos. .92, 93, 94, and 97. The sections on Doctor's Creek went at good prices. No. 100, 16 acres, price «Sl6, fetched -567 (Mr. Bowler.) Mr. Marsden had it all his own way with the Croixelles. sections, buying all from 4 to 8 inclusive, at upset price. .280 acres in Fairfield Downs were bought for Mr. J. Tiuliuo for £140. Also, 1225 ditto pastoral for-£377 15s. 540 acres at Pakawau, hy Mr. James Mackay. for £270... .. At Kaikoura, Mr. Eobert Tinline, 783 acres for £291 10s.* * At "Waihop'ai, 403 acres for £101, Messrs. Johnsou and Gumming. : Messrs. Keene bought sections No. I to 10 inclusive, tit Kaikoura, without opposition, 3160 acres, for £790. The section most contested was Hurunui, No. 1, 50 acres, ,218 15s. After sharp' bidding with Mr. B. 0. Hodson,- this was knocked down to Mr. M'Craefor-£210.' ■" ; Thus closed a tolerable. sale. Some remaining lots are open to sale at upset prices.
