CENSUS ACT, 1858. "MOTION is hereby given, that in ae- -^ cordance with the provisions of the above Act, every HOUSEHOLDER within the Province is required to be prepared on the 24th" December next, or as soon thereafter..as he. may be called upon by the person appointed for the purpose, to afford all INFORMATION required by such Act. A Schedule will be left with each Householder on or before the 24th December, to be filled up on that day. The following extract from the Act is published for public information: —" The several Enumerators and Sub-Enumerators are hereby authorised and required to make all such enquiries of all persons whatsoever respecting those persons themselves, and all other persons, with reference to all such matters and particulars as may be necessary for filling up such forms; and every person who shall refuse or without lawful excuse neglect to fill up the said forms to the best of his knowledge or belief, or to sign and deliver the same as herein required, or who shall wilfully refuse or neglect to answer,--or shall wilfully and untruly answer any such inquiries as aforesaid, or who shall wilfully make, sign, or deliver, or cause to be made, signed, or delivered, urn* false return of all or any of the matters or particulars aforesaid, or who shall obstruct any person in the performance of any duties imposed on him by or under the authority of this Act, shall forfeit a sum not exceeding Twenty Pounds."
