THE NELSON COAL MINING A COMPANY. Capital—£sooo, in 5000 Shares of £1 each. With power to extend. Deposit—4s. per Share. Provisional Committee : Alexander Kerr, Esqurre, Banker, Nelson. ■. Nathaniel Edwards, Esquire, Merchant, Nelson. Mr. Matthew Campbell, Miller and Engineer, Nelson. Mr. William Wilkie, Storekeeper, Nelson. - Mr. Martin. Lightband, Tanner, Nelson. Mr. J. R. Hooper, Brewer, Nelson. Mr. E. Everett, Hotel-keeper, Nelson. Mr. J. Lewthwaite, Hotel-keeper, Nelson. Bankers : The Union Bank of Australia, Nelson. Solicitors : Messrs. Travers and Kingdon, Nelson. Seceretary, pro. tern.: Alfred George Jenkins, Esquire. This Company's formed for the purpose of working, in a more complete and extensive manner, certain beds or seams of coal recently opened and now being worked, upon the Enner-glynnEstate, situated within two miles of the town of Nelson. The Provisional Committee have received from the proprietor an undertaking to let to the Company the ■entire estate, comprising nearly 1800 acres, for a term of Sixty Years, at a royalty of Is. per ton on mineral raised, subject to the usual conditions for ensuring the effectual working of the mines. From the works now in progress the Committee feel satisfied that a very large quantity of coal can be raised, level free, ensuring a supply for years, free from the cost of machinery. - *; The coal itself having been already proved to be of good quality, both for domestic use and for cfrdinary steam purposes, it is needless to expatiate upon the special advantages which must accrue to the public, from the successful prosecution of the proposed undertaking, for it is well known, that the only drawback which has hitherto existed to an extensive use of this fuel, has been the want of a sufficient and continuous supply. . The Committee feel no hesitation, .morepver, in expressing a confident hope, founded upon, results apparent from the pre.-ent workings, that the quality of the coal will improve materially, when obtained at a greater distance from the surface, the present yield consisting, in a great measure, of crop coal. . The Committee are of opinion that the deposit of 4s. per share will amply provide for the present carrying on of the works; and no further calls will be made, without giving at least two months' previous notice, each further call not exceeding 4s. per share. The affairs of the Company will be under the management of aboard of five directors, three of whom shall be a quorum, to be elected by the shareholders. The Company will be deemed to be established so soon as 3500 shares have been subscribed for. A deposit of 4s. per share will be required to be paid on application for shares, and not less than five shires will be allotted to any one person. Every precaution necessary for limiting the liability of the shareholders to the amount of their respective shares, will be taken in preparing the Deed of Settlement. 264 PUBLIC BATHS.—The Subscribers and the Public are respectfully informed that these BATHS will be COMPLETED on or about the 14th instant. TICKETS may be obtained from Messrs. J. ELLIOTT, J. L. BAILEY, and J. LUCK, Trafalgarstreet; and ofW.
