PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
Wednesday, May 12. The Speaker look the chair at one o'clock.
The Clerk read the minutes. The Report of the Standing Orders Committee wns presented by Mr. Mackay. . Mr. Mackay moved, and Mr Sinclair, seconded —" That the Report be adopted and printed, and laid before his Honor the Superintendent for approval." It was unanimously adopted accordingly* ' ' : Mr. Saiinders suggested that Mr. Mackay and the Speaker be appointed to superintend the printing of the report, which was agreed to, * APPROPRIATION BILL.
The Provincial Secretary moved—" That the House go into committee for the further consideration of the Appropriation Bill; Mr. Wells in the chair." The several items relating to the Provincial Council Department were then discussed, and the amounts filled in. The Council having resumed, the Chairman reported the hill with amendments; the i3um total of revenue being ,£25,729 9s. 6d. ; and ,£25,721 10s. Expenditure. . The bill was then read a third time, and passed. Messages 25 and .26 were then considered, and all the clauses agreed to. Mr. Sinclair put a question to the Provincial Secretary as to what progress had been made towards effecting a loan on the Debentures Bill ? The Provincial Secretary said that at the sailing of the last vessel for Sydney he had not time to negotiate the loan with the Manager of the Union Bank of Australia, but hoped to be enabled to do so by the sailing of the next vessel for that port. House adjourned.
