S ' It isJ'intended '.to. etect a, nionument to the rnembry: of Greneral. llaVeloc'k,. in Sanaerland', his native town.- Earl Vane suggested to those who. have interested- themselves in the matter, that'the monument -h© Erected in the new gardens, in the yicimty of Bishopswearmouth ; that a subscription be set c?n-foot, to be limited to the resident inhabitants,, and those connected with the county of Dur/iara; and that there should be a■■.limited .maximum to the aubscription, so that all classes.may contribute. The matter is to be brougitt before the Sunderland Town Council on W^dhesday'next. The site proposed for the erection of the monument is on the hill in the People's' Park,_ commanding a view for many miles of the German Ocean, the ports of the Tyne, the Hartlepools, and the Tees Bay. Already a, number of gentlemen have offered to subscribe the sum of £50 each,
