SING ON' fling ont sing on J let a gloom never rest On tho brow or the heart—we know life claims our duty: .'..-■ Yet should it in sombre colours be dresfc ?^ No, to wreath it with sunshine—there Kes the great beauty. SingonJ sing on! ■Sing on! sing on! the wild free air in song la ibrth pouring its gladness o'er mountain and OC6BJI * ' .' The gems 'neath the deep sea hidden so long, # Echo the melody of the waves' restless motion. Sing on!, sing on I Sing on! sing on! the green forest leaf sings-; Tuu'd by winds that are unintermitingly blending With the mystic voice that o'er the earth flings Its notes thro' the long day-time—not with the night ending, Sing on! sing on! Sing on 1 sing on X tho gay birds sing around:; Never, never is faltering the voice Nature gave them: Tho grasshoppers twitter with ceaseless sounds _ ; the wild summer bees What from singing can save them'? Sing on! sing on: Sing oni sing on'! the light plash of the fount Like a "soft bell is tinkling—each moment .grown sweeter, Its tuneful notes are too many to county : Yet Aurora may smile as the tones rise to greet her. •Sing on! "Sing on! . Sing oni sing on! there's a voice3n the stream'; Ev'ry bubble is breaking to join in the singings The bank-flower'd bells to chorus them seem, Tho' so low is their cadence wo hear not the; ringing. ; Sing on! smgon! Sing on! sing on! for 'tis music's voice fills The still depths of the heart-sea with purest emotion'; . 'Tis its ling'ring echo'that quiv'nng thrills :' And awakens the soul to its highest devotion. Sing on 3 sing on! Sing on! sing on 1 why, oh why should we pause ? Nature, free, to her concert gives all invitation:; Sing then, oh sing, let us join in the cause, : Minglo our voices with earth-sphere's soft, soft susurration, Sing on 3 sing on-!
