Power cuts off, care still urged
All restrictions on power consumption have ceased, the Taupo MED has been told. This includes all restrictions on public lighting. "The difficulties this year could have been very much worse but for the cooperation of all supply authorities and the voluntary savings efforts of consumers since the beginning of restrictions in February, said Mr P. W. Blakeley, general manager of the NZED, in a telegram to the borough electrical engineer. "It is important that electricity should not be used inefficiently or wastefully with the consequent unnecessary strain on the country's resources." Mr Blakeley said he would be emphasising this conservation aspect and asked for further co-operation in maintaining this attitude. i
