It was the most success- | ful dance so far held by the j society. A large number of i local people attended. There were three visiting i chiefs from other societies i and, with the local chief, John Gaffney, they all looked resplendent in their kilts and accessories. Many children were present with their parents. The dancing was lively and gay, interspersed with lovely old-time waltzes. One of the visitors from Hawke's Bay gave a selection of tunes on an accordian. Wendy Guy entertairted and sang two songs. An added highlight was the piping of a haggis, carried in by Mrs Gaffney. The address to the haggis was ably given by Don Drysdale, the senior chieftain. Instead of an ingleside this month, the society is to hold a tartan ball in the — Memorial Hall.
