LIBERTY AT A PRICE..

A session at the hairdresser is costing Taupo women 11 per cent more these days — and ironic as it may seem, so-cailed womens' lib must take part of the blame. In keeping with Government poliey, all hair stylists ' reeeived the ordinary 9 per cent wage increase at the beginning of the month. Two weeks later the next step towards equal pay was granted and a further seven per cent added. This double wage increase has meant that prices must also increase to withstand the burden, "It is unfortunate that this has to be passed on to the consumer but we assure our clients that they will have our undivided attention in all ' aspects of hairdressing," said Mr D. Loughlin, secretary of the ' Taupo Hairdressers' Association.
