Harbour to be dredged

The Taupo boat harbour is being dredged to give boats easy access to and from their berths. The Government has * given $1500 for the task, which will also include ^ the removal of sunken logs in the area. The work is expected to take several weeks. Work on removing "highspots" of sand has been necessitated by the recent low lake level. Some 600 cubic yards of sand is expected to be removed from the harbour.

The sand will be dumped on the groyne adjacent to the Taupo . Yacht Club. While over the years numerous loads of sand have been taken from the harbour, especially from behind the commercial launches, this is the first time full-scale dredging has been undertaken. PICTURE: In preparation for the dredging .boat owners moved their craft to the other side of the river last weekend.
