More power is allocated
While the removal of all power restraints seems just around the corner — Taupo has finally received an increased electricity allocation from the NZED. But Taupo's increase has been twofold — the basic allocation was recently raised from 95 per cent to 97 per cent and this has been further increased by 1.5 per cent. In a letter to the borough electrical engineer, Mr K. G. Stewart, the general manager of the
NZED, Mr P. W. Blakeley, said the increase for the period to come was to make additional allowance for increased consumption by Fletchers and any residual under-estimation that may have existed from earlier assessments of Taupo's consumption. "It is hoped that all restraint measures will be able fo be lifted in a few weeks," said Mr Blakeley. "However, it is necessary to be quite certain of the situation before this is done."
