The TauponuI-a-TIa College has been given a replica of the American Declaration of Human Rights and Independence. The document was donated to the council by the American ConsulGeneral, Mr Clarence Mclntosh, who has been a regular visitor to Taupo over the past two years. The borough council decided it would be fitting to present the declaration to Tauponui-a-Tia College. In handing the framed

document to the college at a third and fourth form assembly on Tuesday, Taupo's Mayor, Mr C. S. Currie, urged as many pupils as possible to take the opportunity to read it. Head prefects Tony Allen and Anne Salmond aceepted the declaration on behalf of the school. ABOVE: Tony Allen, Anne Salmond, the relieving principal, Mr N. Pointon, and Mr Currie with the framed declaration.
