Mr Hermans said the area, partially on the road reserve but mainly on adjoining Crown land, had been of considerable interest since the TaupoNapier highway had been reconstructed. The borough engineer, Mr W. K. Kiddle, said the cutting was of interest because various shaded layers of rock could be easily identified.
