As table tennis progresses well into the second round of the competition, the A grade leader Wairakei A surges further ahead with a total of 72 points. On Monday night the team beat Wairakei B 8-4. The second place holders, Borough A, has 61 points and Rebels has 60. Freightways has 57 points. A battle for second place seems to be developing between Borough A, Rebels and Freightways. MYC and Wairakei B have 38 and 36 points l respectively. Borough B has 65, United 59, MYC 58, Plyco A 54, DSIR 45, Plyco B 31. The leaders in the C grade, Borough I had a 10-2 win over MYC to strengthen its position on the points table. College A, in second place, drew 6-all with Forest A after some closely fought matches. Intermediate had a 11-1 win over Borough II to give it third place. The points position for C grade is: — Borough I 77, College A 56, Intermediate 55, Forest A 48, MYC 44, Forest D 42, Borough II 36, Forest B 26. In the D grade, College B seems to be showing the way with many straight wins to date. The side defeated Taupo 12-0. Borough III beat College D 7-5 and Wairakei beat Freightways 8-4. The points scored to date in the D grade are: — College B 90, Borough III 65, College D 51, Wairakei 36, Freightways 25, Taupo 22.
