WDFF meeting hears remits

At the June meeting of Oruanui Women's Division of Federated Farmers, the president, Mrs B. Tipping, read out the remits to this year's dominion conference at Nelson. As the branch is not sending a delegate, members appreeiated the offer of Mrs J. Scarlet. the provineial president. to give a report on the branch's behalf. ATso at provineial level. members were pleased to learn that a new housekeeper is now available to East Waikato. Members are planning to host the next provineial meeting on August 5.

Arrangements were finalised for celebrating the branch's 15th birthday with dinner at a motor-inn. The guest speaker for the evening was Mrs R. M. Stevenson. Members listened with interest to the highlights from some of the official functions attended by her as a parliamentarian, enlivened by some small personal observations. The hostesses were Mesdames S. Twentyman, R. Baker and B. Johnson. The competitions were won by Mrs J. Power > — cut bloom and best vegetable; Mrs C. Jones — shrub and bloom; Mrs B. Matusehka — sponge cake.
