Thurston, Gawn win stableford

A nett 63, nine under her handicap, gave Mrs M. Gawn a winning stableford figure when combined with her partner's stableford, in the ladies' golf silver and bronze aggregate stableford event last Thursday. Mrs J. Thurston and Mrs Gawn took the honours with a combined stableford of 69. Following closely in second place were Miss E. Parkinson and Mrs E. Law, with 68 points, and Mrs B. Draper and Mrs J. Roberts were third with 64. Mrs Draper's erratic start spoilt their chances of winning — she had nine stableford points on the first nine, but 23 on the second nine. Saturday ladies played a medal round and putting competition , on the previous Saturday, the medal round

being won by Mrs M. Tapalaga with a nett 69. Mrs D. Fisher won the putting competition with a total of 31 putts. Handicap reductions: Mrs N. Bodle 23-22; Mrs M. Tapalaga 28-26; Mrs N. Harrington gained a 36 handicap; Mrs M. Gawn 35-31; Mrs S. Morel 23-22; Mrs J. Roberts 30-29.
