Historic body is formed
An historic society has been formed in Turangi, following a public meeting last week attended by nearly 50 people. Among those who addressed the meeting were the director-general of the > New Zealand Historic f Places Trust, t)r J. R. S. - Daniels, and Mr T. Host king, the Taupo man who > did a great deal of archaei logical work in the Turangi area when the Tongariro
Power Development scher ie started. The meeting was chair d by Mr J. Gardenier, w o was elected to a sieerii g committee. Other membe "s are Mr J. Lavender, Mrs J. Cooper and Mrs T. Grac h Steering commitf :e members are to form ' a constitution and . repd rt back to the society n September 10. A meeting will be he d on July 23 to discu :s activities for the m w society. |
