Foyer to be extended
Extensions are to be made to the foyer of St Andrew's Anglican Church in Titiraupenga Street. At the moment the church has no foyer and the 450 square feet addition proposed by the vestry will be used for this purpose. The borough council approved the application at its monthly meeting on Monday night. * * * During the two weeks of the May school holidays the Taupo public relations office and informattott
centre dealt with 8026 inquiries. Over Queen's Birthday weekend 1640 people used the services of the office. * * * * The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association has been authorised to conduct a mystery envelope appeal on August 30. The appeal is to be held nationally to provide funds for the promotion of tennis and for funds for local clubs. * * * An application to make additions to the Taupo Qtizens' Silver Band hall has been approved.
The band applied to extend its existing hall southward by 18 feet 4 inches and the council approved the additions subject to special conditions. * * * The playground equipment in the Tongariro Street South Domain is to be upgraded by Taupo Jaycee. The request was approved at a meeting of the council. Materials will be supplied by the council subject to the acceptance of final plan details and ' costs by the borough engineer.
