Visitor loses pants, cash

A visitor to Taupo had his trousers stolen from his motel room while he slept on Sunday night. The trousers were found on Monday behind another motel, but $50 was missing from the pocket. A thief apparently entered the open window of the motel while the man was asleep. The Starlight Cinema was also burgled on Sunday night. Nine cartons of cigarettes and some small change was stolen. Entry was gained through a rear door. Taupo detectives are investigating the burglaries.
