Tree teeters

Some boat owners are wondering when a tree on the escarpment overlooking the boat harbour will be vieing for a mooring. Part of the bank subsided during a storm at the weekend leaving the tree perched precariously on the edge. The borough engineer, Mr W. K. Kiddle, said he would investigate the matter and determine , whether the tree would have to be moved. "We don't like having to do this to trees but if " property is in danger then it will have to be removed," he said. A large section of the bank caved in during the storm and debris covered the road alongside the boat harbour.
