RIFLE PACKIN' COUPLE TAKE TOP HONOURS
Robin and Dianne Bishop won the major events at the Taupo branch, New Zealand Deerstalkers' Association, championship shoot on Sunday. Robin again took the large bore championship and Dianne won the ladies' championship. Twenty-five seniors and 19 juniors competed for the various cups and trophies on the club's range. David Kirk again won the junior large bore shoot, with Gavin Riley showing excellent form to take the junior .22 championship. He scored 185 out of a possible 200. Wendy Bibby scored 162 out of 200 to become the
junior girls' champion. Several visitors attended the shoot. On the day's performance Mrs Dawn Carter, of Whakatane, had the highest score, 248 out of a possible 300 — great shooting for a woman. Another notable effort on the day was that by Jackie Mathews, eight. Shooting a .22 for the first time, she scored 155 out of 200. The top 10 individual scores were. — Seniors [out of 300]: Mrs Dawn Carter 248, R. Bishop 246, J. Chilcott 237, P. Carter 237, J. Carter 218, D. Kirk Jnr 218, J. Scobie 217, F. Harpham 215, T. Stanfield 206, J. Harding 201.
Juniors [out of 200]: Gavin Riley 185, Malcolm Rooke 183, Brett Chilcott 176, Alan Stanfield 174, Roger Perry 168, Alex Loughlin 164, Wendy Bibby 162, Craig Perry 158, Jackie Mathews 155, Mark Gardner 154. The season's large bore aggregate was won by J. Chilcott.
