Principal to be inspector
The principal of Taupo-nui-a-Tia College, Mr F. N. Tritt, is to join the Education Department inspectorate for two terms. At a meeting of the college board of governors
this week Mr Tritt was released from his duties as principal so that he could take up his temporary appointment with the inspectorate on Monday. "The department is beginning to realise that there is a lot to be gained from teachers joining the inspectorate and then going back to their schools," he said. "It gives us an opportunity to see what goes on in other areas. "At the moment, inspec-
tors are feeling their way. "Grading of teachers has been abolished so they are no longer concerned with that — now they inspect schools to oversee the work which is going on. "It is quite an exciting time to be joining the inspectorate." Mr Tritt spent time as a school inspector 10 years ago and he said he thoroughly enjoyed the experience. "We have a very able and energetic staff at the
college and while I am away I'm sure everything will ruri smoothly." Mr A. L. Dalton, the Taupo Borough Council representative on the board, congratulated Mr Tritt on his appointment. "It is a great honour they have bestowed on him," he said. The board approved the appointment of Mr N. A. Pointon as acting principal, the senior mistress, Mrs J. Gardiner, as deputy principal, and Mr M. Wills as senior master.
