Bridge club farewells 3 members
The president of the Taupo Bridge Club, Mr Russell Bates, and Mrs Bates welcomed some 70 bridge players who gathered at the club last Friday to fareweU Mrs Murray Hewson and Mr and Mrs Charles Leech, pending their departure from Taupo. Mrs Hewson, a foundation member, who served for two years on the committee, Ieft this week for Gisborne, where her husband has been appointed manager of the radio station.
Mr Bates, in .making a presentation to the guests of honour, expressed the gratitude of the club for the pioneering work done by all three and wished them well for the future. Rubber bridge was foUowed by supper and midnight brought a happy party to a close. Mrs Leech, who served as treasurer for two years, and Mr Leech, who has been an indefatigabie worker for the club, are to leave later this month to make their home in Tauranga.
