Coverage sought
Extended radio network coverage in other areas promoting Taupo as a tourist resort has been requested by the public relations officer, Mr L. J. Bergman. "From all reports, retailers and accommodation establishments are feeling the benefit from this facet of the promotional fund," he said. The fund was established last year. In the first six months radio broadcasts were made over the Taumarunui and Tokoroa stations urging people to come and spend
the weekend in 1 aupo. Napier-Hastings stations have since joined the network and inquiries are being made to include Hamilton and Tauranga and possibly Auckland and Whakatane. "We are now sponsoring the ski reports on IZM and IZB in Auckland on Thursdays and Fridays," said Mr Bergman. "We are urging people to put non-skiers in their cars and drop them off in Taupo to do shopping or go fishing and hunting while they carry on to the ski slopes."
