SCHOOLBOY WINS FISHING CONTEST

Hastings schoolboy Michael Trimmer, 13 (pictured), who weighed in a 101b rainbow trout last Thursday afternoon, won the heaviest fish section of the Leisure Time fishing contest which concluded on Sunday Michael took the prize from Mr D. L. Studholme, whose 91b lOoz fish gained the contest lead on the Thursday morning. Mr B. J. Perry, of Havelock North produced a 91b 5oz fish on the opening day of the contest, December 26, but was unseated at the 11th hour by Mr Stud holme who in turn had to concede the honour to Michael Trimmer. The prize for the longest fish went to MrH Levick. The average catch per day during the contest was six and the weighing station handled a total of 180 trout.
