OWN POST OFFICE FOR SHANTY TOWN

Shanty Town, the West Coast tourist attraction at Rutherglen, seven miles south of Greymouth, is to have its own post office. The Shanty Town Post Office which opened on January 23 will provide postal services only. A special pictorial date stamp has been prepared for use on mail posted at Shanty Town. Philatelists wanting an impression of the special date stamp on opening day should forward stamped addressed envelopes under cover to the Chief Postmaster, Greymouth, on or before January 20.
