The borough engineer, Mr W. K. Kiddle, was nominated as the council's representative ^ on the inter-departmental committee responsible for planning and co-ordinating the future development of ..the Wairakei Tourist Park. * Council was invited to name a representative on the com- - mittee by the Minister of ^ Tourism, Mr Walker. f * * * * Mr J. M. Stanley was nominated to represent the council at the quarterly meeting of the Bay of Plenty Local Bodies Association at -Kawerau on February 4.
The Mayor of Taupo escorts Prince Takahito Mikasa from the Taupo airport terminal to the RNZAF DC3 wjiich took the Emperor of Japan's younger brother and his wife, escorted by Mrs R M. Stevenson, Member of Parliament for Taupo, to Auckland last Thursday. That day the Royal couple had travelled from Rotorua to Turangi by car where they visited various points of interest in and about the power town, including historical sites. Their stop-over in Taupo was limited to brief discussions before they boarded the Dakota. A number of interested people were at the airport to see the friendly couple.
