LEARN TO SAIL SKI ON DRY LAND
Just as the sailor of tomorrow may ride on a cushion of air bubbles, so he will be able to learn to sail and water ski on dry land. A new yacht simulator developed by a company based at Caterham, near London, provides complete sailing realism for the novice. The pupil learns to sail in a conventional hull fitted with all the normal controls. The hull automatically reacts to sail and rudder changes according to the conditions being simulated. For water skiing tuition the pupil stands still — the water rushes past! For those who prefer their water sports under the sea, the boat show is the debut for a novel two-man "SeabedJeep", It has an open cab and is designed to transport people to diving areas either submerged or afloat. The craft is propelled by electric motors which operate ballast pumps to control diving or surfacing actions.
