A Melbourne policeman, Detective Sergeant J . McIlwaine (left), visited Taupo on Tuesday and spent the day fishing on the lake with his New Zealand companion, Detective Sergeant D. McEwen of Wellington (centre). Detective Sergeant McIlwaine and another Australian of the same rank are at present in New Zealand for nine weeks while two New Zealand policemen are in Australia learning their methods of crime detection. Here they are farewelled from Taupo by Detective R. E. Hawkins of the Taupo C.I.B. The result of the fishing trip? A three pound trout which was eaten at yesterday morning's breakfast.
