GIANT SUNFLOWERS

While a diet of champagne was necessary to grow a giant , sunf lower in Sydney, featured in a New Zealand daily newspaper yesterday, Mr C. R. Watson of 34 Kiwi Street, Taupo, has fed his 10-week-old monster with a far simpler diet of liquid sheep manure. A world record is being claimed for the Sydney giant — it has reached a height of 13 feet IV2 inches. A gardening expert said that sunflowers are normally only seven feet dwarfs, but several of Mr Watson 's young plants are over 10 feet tall already.
