First trout

An 82-year-old visitor jumped into the lead in the longest fish section of the Leisure Time contest on Sunday. Fishing from the launch Kotuku, Mr H. R. Levick, of Hataitai, hooked and boated a 9 lb trout which measured a neat 29 inches. The fish, taken off Kinloch, was the angler s first and it won for him both sections — weight and length — of Sunday's competition. The leader in the major contest, for weight, is still Mr B. J. Perry, who recorded a fish of 9 lb 5 oz on the first day of the sponsored contest.
