A DONG FOR RENT

Jennifer and Stephen Hudson have got their village cottage for a dong. For the 6nly rent they pay is that they have to ring the noon and 8 p.m. curfew bells at the church in Treston, Yorks, to which the cottage belongs. The couple, both aged 21, moved in in response to an appeal from the rector, the Rev. Dennis George. For after the verger retired the rector was faced with stopping the traditional toll or finding someone else to do the job. Which is just what he has done. PICTURE SHOWS: Jennifer Hudson, with her six- ^ month-old son, Charles, tolling the bell. She and her husband also make sure the church is open and locked each day.
