One dead in crash
One person died and several others were injured as a result of accidents on roads in the Taupo area during the Christmas-New Year holiday period. The dead man was: Mr Tony Nathan, Puia Street, Taupo. Mr Nathan was the driver of a car which came into collision with another car on State Highway One near Five Mile Bay at 3.50 a.m. on Saturday, January 2. The driver, - Mr Ivan Edward Olsen, and three of the passengers in the other car received minor injuries, while two other passengers escaped injury. Mr Nathan was trapped in his car and assistance was
given by members of the Taupo Volunteer Fire Brigade. He died from his injuries in the Rotorua Hospital on Tuesday. It is believed that Mr

Both cars were severely damaged in the collision. * * * Two r- young' people from Tokoroa are stift^in Rotorua Hospital recqvering from injuries received' in aipaccident on the Taupo-T okoroa highway about eight miles north of Taupo at 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30. A third person in the car has since been discharged from the hospital. The vehicle in which they were travelling was completely written off when it failed to negotiate a right-hand bcnd, hit 4 bank and overtorned a number of times. • V *
