39 POWER BOAT RACE ENTRIES

Organisers of the Rothmans power boat races on Lake Taupo on January 2 have already received 39 firm entries and they are expecting up to another 30 before the closing date. The event, expected to be one of the highlights of the Public Relations Office's holiday entertainment programme has already attracted a number of the country s top offshore racers which should find lake conditions to their liking. There will be two races one over 50 miles and the other over 100 miles. For various reasons, but mainly to provide the public with better viewing, the course has been reversed this time and the start and finish will be on the lakefront. '

Race headquarters will be at the Yacht Club and the finishing line will be sited between the clubhouse and Tongariro Street. The 39 confirmed entries are: Hot Toddy, 135 h.p.
