Stolen car found
In the early hours of Saturday morning Taupo police found a car which had been reported stolen from Auckland on November 23 being driven in Taupo. The car, a 1969 Holden Belmont, was pursued by the police along Lake Terrace and eventually into Henry Hill Road where the car was driven off the road and into a bank. A man jumped out of the car and escaped from the police. At 9.30a.m. a man was arrested and charged with the theft of the car. He made a brief appearance in the Taupo court on Monday morning.
