CHEAP WAY TO PREVENT MISTING

There is a cheap, effective and practical way to prevent misting of windscreens and rear windows in cold weather. Smear a thin layer of soap or detergent — shampoo in tubes is particularly convenient — evenly over the inside of the glass and polish off with a dry cloth. Condensation forms a continuous film of water, which is completely transparent. This treatment lasts some time a week or more, and must be as effective as any proprietory preparation. This simple treatment effectively prevents misting when one first gets into a cold car, and before the heater/ demister has had time to warm up and do its job.
