SOUTH-EAST ASIA MAJOR
TARGET
Raising money to give assistance to people in Soutli East Asia is at present one of the inain concerns of the Taupo Red Cross. With this in mind, three members of the society, Mrs A. H. Hope, Mrs A Mason and Mr J. Tonge will attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Red Cross Society in Nelson, from September 22 to 26. At the conference they will study methods used by bfanches of the society in other centres in raising
money for aid to destitute countries and for other causes in New Zealand. President of the Taupo branch, Mr Tonge, intimated that the conference gave members the opportunity to assimilate new ideas so that there was less risk of a branch getting into a rut. The Taupo society intends to donate £300 over the amount of £50 which was given as its donation to the national fund for additions to a children's Tb sanitorium in South Korea. The cost for New Zealand Red Cross part in the project will be £14,000.
