PROGRESS ON TENDERS FOR

TURANGI

TURANGI

(OC)

Ten 50-man ablution blocks are to be built at the Turangi single-men's camp and 10 crib blocks in the Ministry of Works' industrial area. Tenders closing in September are now being called for these additions to the town's development. Tenders are being called for the first stage of the permanent project headquarters for Tongariro power development, a single-storey office building with a floor area of approximately 14,600 sq. ft. Three contracts for the construction of water mains linking the water source with the new million-gallon reservoir behind Turangi and the new road areas south of Turangi are also to be let.

j Additional tenders are also being called for the construction of three conerete I and masonry staff dormitories, each of some 2150 sq. jft. On the construction side, tenders are being invited for investigation drilling at the site of the Poutu Dam (off the National Park/Rangipo State Highway) that will control the present outlet of Lake Rotoaira, the focal point of the water diversions that are the main feature of the Tongariro power development.
