CAR CLUB NIGHT TRIAL OVER 34 MILE COURSE
Eighteen competitors took part in the Taupo Car Club's night trial, held on Wednesday. The event was in the form of a time trial with an average speeds and route being the main object. The route was from Taupo to Oruanui, then back to Wairakei, on to Huka Falls area with a mud section in that area. A loop skirting the borough took competitors out to the Four Mile Bay area and then back to Taupo again. The total distance of the trial was 34 miles which competitors covered in approximately 11 hours. After the event, supper was provided for all while the results were worked out. The event was well organised by Messrs Paddy Christensen and Graham Lever, and was good practice for competitors from Taupo who are taking part in the forthcoming Blossom
Trial which is being held in Hawke's Bay in conjunction with the Hastings Blossom Festival. It is thought that there will be at least three cars from the Taupo Car Club competing in that event. Results were: R. Elmiger, (Anglia) 1, R. Davies (Anglia) 2, G. Bpot (VW 1500S) 3, J. Walker i(A35 Austin) 4, D. Wallace (Minor 1000) 5, R. Jacoby ( VW) 6, K. Hutt KVW) 7, B. Sumich (Hillman) 8, A.
