CoB beat Tihoi in Seymour Rosebowl game on Sunday

College Old Boys beat Tihoi 16 — 3 in a Seymour Rosebowl Rugby match at Taupo on Sunday. In the other draw, United defaulted to Taupo. Old Boys' played with only 14 men but their forwards were too strong for the Tihoi pack and their superiority in the lineouts and loose play led to most of the Old Boys' tries. C. Wall was a good leader and he was well backed up by J. H. Wall, G. Kopua and B. Simon. K. Wall at half and N. Rieket on the right wing, stood out in a strong back line. The half-time score was 5 — nil in Old Boys favour but the Tihoi forwards managed to keep Old Boys on the defence for the greater part of the second half. With the exception of T. Alhert, Tihoi backs lacked thrust, due mainly to lob-

passing by P. Brown from the scrum. The only score was from a penalty. Old Boys staged a comeback as the spell advanced and two good runaway tries set the seal on a comfortable win. Scorers were: Old Boys: R. Morehu, C. Wall, N. Rieket, W. Whetu, tries; P. Harrison, two conversions. Tihoi: B. Rata, a penalty goal. The referee was Mr J. W. Arthurs.
